WhatsApp Wedding Invitation Messages and How to Send Them
You have the invitation card ready, but the WhatsApp message still needs a few words. A formal line may feel right for relatives and too stiff for a colleague. A short “please come” can sound warm but leave the guest searching for the date, venue or reply details.
Here you can choose from 32 wedding invitation openings and messages, plus four follow-ups for RSVPs and last-minute changes. You will also find a simple message structure, sending checks, and wording for parents, colleagues, Hindi-speaking guests and reception-only invitations. Pick the section you need, then replace the placeholders before you send.
How to write a WhatsApp wedding invitation
A good invitation tells the guest who is inviting them, which celebration they are invited to, and how to reply. Start with their name, introduce the couple or hosts, and add the date, arrival time, venue and city. Include a map link and a clear reply request.
Use this order: greeting → invitation → event details → map or card → reply deadline and contact. Write the month in words, such as 14 February 2027, so a numeric date cannot be misread. State AM or PM. For guests in another country, add the local time zone.
Name the people you are inviting. “Dear [guest names]” is clearer than “you and family” when your guest list includes only certain family members. If a partner or children are welcome, say so. Do not use a household greeting for an invitation meant for one person.
Before: “Please join our wedding. Details in the video.” After: “Dear [guest name], [name] and I would love you to join our wedding on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. The invitation video is attached. Map: [link]. Please reply by [date] to let us know whether you can attend.” The second version lets someone find the essentials without replaying a video.
Choose the sender as carefully as the wording. A parent can invite their relatives in their own voice; the couple can write directly to colleagues and friends. If the recipient may not have your number saved, introduce yourself in the first line.
Keep the first message easy to scan. Put the longer event schedule, accommodation information and directions in an attached card or a clearly labelled link. Never leave the date, event or location hidden behind an unexplained link.
Choose a sample and personalise it
The first six groups preserve the styles from our original collection: formal and traditional, modern and casual, romantic and heartfelt, destination, unique and creative, and religious. Their opening lines are useful when you want a particular tone. Add the details block below to any of those 18 openings before sending.
Details block to copy: Wedding of [name] and [name] | [day, date] | Please arrive by [time] | [venue, full address, city] | Map: [link] | Please reply to [host name and number] by [RSVP date] with the names of the invited guests who can attend.
The later samples are fuller messages for parents, colleagues, short invites, Hindi wording and reception-only invitations. Replace every bracketed field and remove any event, promise or relationship description that does not apply. Use either a direct reply or an RSVP link as your main response method, rather than asking guests to do both. Labels such as “From both families” describe the use case; leave those labels out of your message.
For close-friend jokes and more personal wording, use our Wedding Invitation Messages for Friends guide. This page concentrates on WhatsApp delivery and the wider guest list rather than repeating that collection.
Formal and traditional wedding invitation messages
Use these when writing on behalf of both families or when a more formal invitation suits the recipient. Add the details block above to your chosen opening.

Modern and casual wedding invitation messages
Choose a relaxed opening for guests you usually speak to informally. In the first option, change “Mr. and Mrs. [Last Name]” if those titles or a shared surname do not fit. Add the details block.

- It’s happening! We’re getting married and would love for you to be there to share in our joy. Prepare for a day filled with love and laughter.
Romantic and heartfelt wedding invitation messages
These are expressive openings for couples who enjoy romantic wording. Change “husband and wife” if different wording fits you better, and add the details block.

- We’ve found our happily ever after in each other, and we’re so excited to celebrate the beginning of our forever with you.

Destination wedding invitation messages
Name the actual destination and send confirmed travel information separately. Keep references to beaches or mountains only if accurate. Add the details block and make clear which expenses, if any, the hosts cover.
- Adventure awaits! Join us in [destination] as we say ‘I do’ amidst the beauty of [describe the location briefly, e.g., the turquoise waters, the majestic mountains].
- Escape to paradise with us! We’re getting married in [destination] and would love for you to celebrate our love with sun, sand, and unforgettable memories.
- Pack your bags and your dancing shoes! We’re tying the knot in [destination] and can’t wait to create magical memories with you as we begin our married life.
Unique and creative wedding invitation messages
Use a creative opening if it sounds like you, then move straight to the practical details. Each line below needs the details block before it is ready to send.
- And so the adventure begins! Join us as we embark on the greatest journey of all – marriage!
- We’re not just tying the knot, we’re weaving together two lives into one beautiful tapestry. Come celebrate with us!
- Two souls, one love story. Join us as we write the next chapter together.
Religious wedding invitation messages
Choose faith language that reflects the couple and ceremony. These are general religious openings, not substitutes for wording or customs specific to your tradition. Add the details block and any useful ceremony guidance.
- With grateful hearts and by the grace of God, we invite you to celebrate the wedding of [Name] and [Name] as they unite in holy matrimony.
- Guided by faith and surrounded by love, we invite you to witness our marriage and share in our joy as we begin our life together.
- We are blessed to invite you to join us as we exchange vows and begin our journey as a married couple, under the loving guidance of our faith.
Wedding invitation messages from parents
Use the relationship and host names that are true for your family. There is no need to imply that both sets of parents are hosting if they are not. A personal call can accompany the message when that is how your family normally invites an elder.
- From both families: Dear [guest names], the [family name] and [family name] families warmly invite you to the wedding of [name] and [name] on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. We would be glad to celebrate with you. Card: [link]. Map: [link]. Please let [contact] know by [date] whether you can join us.
- For a daughter’s wedding: Dear [guest names], we are happy to invite you to the wedding of our daughter, [name], and [partner name]. Please join us on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. The invitation card and directions are attached. Kindly reply to [contact] by [date]. With warm wishes, [hosts’ names].
- For a son’s wedding: Dear [guest names], our son [name] and [partner name] are getting married, and we would love you to join the celebration. Wedding: [date], [time], [venue, city]. Map: [link]. Please reply by [date] to [contact] so we can plan for the invited guests attending. Warm regards, [hosts’ names].
- After a family phone call: Dear [guest names], it was lovely speaking with you. As discussed, we warmly invite you to [name] and [name]’s wedding on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. Here is the card: [link], and the map: [link]. Please confirm with [contact] by [date] when you know your plans.
Wedding invitation messages for colleagues and your manager
A colleague should not have to guess who is writing or feel obliged to attend because you work together. Use an individual message when only some members of a team are invited. A team-group message is appropriate only when the invitation genuinely includes everyone in that group.
- For a colleague: Hi [name], I’m getting married to [partner name], and I’d be happy if you could join us on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. Our invitation is attached. Map: [link]. Please let me know by [date] whether you can make it. I understand if your plans do not allow it.
- For your manager: Dear [name], I would be pleased to invite you to my wedding to [partner name] on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. Please find the invitation attached. Directions: [link]. Kindly let me know by [date] if you will be able to attend. Warm regards, [your name].
- For a former colleague: Hello [name], this is [your name] from [workplace or team]. I hope you are well. [Partner name] and I are getting married, and we would be delighted if you could join us on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. Card: [link]. Map: [link]. Please reply by [date] if you can attend.
Short WhatsApp wedding invitation messages
A short message works well alongside a readable card or video. It still needs enough information for the guest to recognise the event without opening the attachment.
- With an invitation card: Dear [guest names], please join [name] and [name] for our wedding on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. Card attached; map: [link]. Please reply by [date] to let us know whether you can come.
- With an invitation video: Hi [guest names], we’re getting married! We would love you to join us on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. Our video invitation is attached. Map: [link]. Please reply here by [date]. With love, [names].
- Text only: Dear [guest names], [name] and [name] invite you to their wedding on [date]. Arrival: [time]. Venue: [full address, city]. Map: [link]. Please confirm with [contact] by [date]. We hope you can join us.
Hindi and Hinglish wedding invitation messages
Use the language the recipient is comfortable reading, not just the language printed on the card. Keep names and venue spellings consistent with the map and invitation. Add the full year and a clear morning or evening time.
- Hindi from the family:
- Hinglish from the couple: Namaste [guest names], [name] aur [name] ki shaadi mein aapko dil se invite karte hain. [Date] ko [time] baje [venue, city] mein humare saath celebrate kijiye. Invitation attached hai. Map: [link]. Please [date] tak [contact] ko bata dijiye ki aap aa payenge ya nahi. Humein aapse milkar khushi hogi.
Reception only and multiple event invitations
Do not call a reception invitation a wedding-ceremony invitation if the guest is invited only to the reception. For a multi-event celebration, list only the events that this recipient is invited to; avoid sending a family-wide schedule that suggests a wider invitation.
- Reception only: Dear [guest names], please join us for the wedding reception of [name] and [name] on [date] at [time], [venue, city]. We look forward to celebrating with you. Map: [link]. Please reply to [contact] by [date] to let us know whether you can attend.
- Multiple events: Dear [guest names], we warmly invite you to celebrate [name] and [name]’s wedding with us. You are invited to [event 1: date, time, venue] and [event 2: date, time, venue]. The card includes directions: [link]. Please tell [contact] by [date] which of these events you can attend.
How to send the invitation without losing the details
1. Confirm the final details first. Check names, date, arrival time, venue, city and invited people against one master guest list. If the ceremony and reception have different venues, label both clearly.
2. Open the card or video on a phone. Check whether names and times are readable. Send a plain-text version of the essentials alongside it. An attachment should help the guest, not be the only way they can discover where to go.
3. Test every link. Open the map pin and confirm it points to the correct entrance or venue, not another branch with a similar name. Open the card and any RSVP form without your own logged-in access. Check that guests can reply without unexpected permissions.
4. Choose a private delivery route. Send individually when guest lists or invitation scope differ. Do not add people to a group just to deliver an invitation without considering their preference and who can see the conversation. Avoid publicly posting a private venue address or guest contact details.
5. Offer an alternative. If someone does not use WhatsApp or cannot open the file, call them and offer email, a simpler image, text details or a printed card. For an elder who expects a call or visit, a digital card can be the convenient reference afterwards rather than the entire invitation.
6. Track replies, not just delivery. Keep a simple list of invited names, events, sent date, response and number attending. A read receipt is not an RSVP. Record any later change and confirm it with the person handling the final count.
For a designed attachment, browse 3VIDEO wedding invitation designs or wedding invitation PDFs. Choose a format your guests can comfortably open, and check the chosen product’s inclusions and delivery details before ordering.
Four follow up messages for replies and changes
These four messages are follow-ups, not new invitations. Contact only the people affected. Keep an RSVP reminder gentle and give a clear way to say no; a guest should not have to explain their finances, health or family commitments.
- RSVP reminder: Hi [name], I’m checking the guest count for our wedding on [date]. Could you please let me know by [deadline] whether [invited names] can attend? It is completely fine if you cannot make it; we just need to confirm the arrangements. Thank you.
- Guest who cannot attend: Thank you for letting us know, [name]. We’ll miss you, but we understand. Thank you for your good wishes, and we hope to catch up another time.
- Important venue or time change: Hello [guest names], an important update for [name] and [name]’s [event] on [date]: [new time or venue] replaces [old detail]. Updated map: [link]. Please use this corrected invitation: [link]. Could you reply to confirm you have seen the change? Thank you.
- Final practical reminder for confirmed guests: Hi [guest names], we look forward to seeing you at [event] on [date]. Please arrive by [time] at [venue]. Map: [link]. [One confirmed parking or entrance instruction, if useful.] If you need help on the day, contact [name and number].
Common questions before you press send
Is a WhatsApp wedding invitation enough? It can be, when the recipient uses WhatsApp and is comfortable with a digital invitation. There is no single rule that fits every family. For guests who value a personal call, visit or printed card, use the message to support that invitation rather than assuming it replaces it.
When should we send it? Work backwards from travel needs and your venue’s final-count deadline. Guests arranging leave, visas or accommodation need earlier notice than local guests. A save-the-date can help before full details are ready, but label it clearly and send the actual invitation later. Set an RSVP deadline that leaves you time to follow up before vendor numbers are due.
Can we invite someone with just a video? Send the video with a short text that includes the couple’s names, event, date, time, venue and reply method. That helps guests search their chat later and helps anyone who cannot play the video.
How do we make “you and family” clearer? Name the invited guests. If you are including a partner whose name you do not know, make that permission explicit. Emily Post’s guidance on addressing invitations emphasises identifying who is included; the same clarity is useful in a WhatsApp greeting.
What does RSVP mean, and can guests reply on WhatsApp? RSVP asks the guest to tell you whether they will attend. If WhatsApp is how you want replies, write “Please reply here by [date].” Emily Post’s invitation etiquette recommends following the response method the host specifies. Use one clear method and a named contact.
What if nobody replies? Check privately that the invitation reached the right person, then send one polite reminder near your deadline. Do not treat silence, a reaction emoji or a read receipt as a confirmed attendance. If the deadline passes, contact the guest directly before finalising assumptions.
Can we stop an invitation being forwarded? Do not rely on a personal message as access control. Address it to the invited names and share only information you are comfortable sending to those recipients. If you use a guest-specific RSVP service, check its actual privacy and access settings rather than assuming the link is private.
Before sending, read the message once as the guest: Do I know who is inviting me, which event I can attend, where to go and how to reply? If those answers are clear, you do not need a more elaborate opening.
